WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
ROUND THE BIBLE IN NINETY MINUTES (or NEW TWISTS ON OLD TALES) takes an oblique and different look at some familiar Old and New Testament stories. Devised by its Presenter DEREK SKELCHER, to celebrate his 60 years on the amateur stage, and presented FREE OF CHARGE, it uses song and comedy to look at the stories from a different angle, often using the thoughts or views of 'witnesses to' or 'people affected by' the incidents.

The style of the show owes much to such performers as Flanders & Swan, David Kossof Al Read, Stanley Holloway and Bob Newhart and it is presented in two halves, refreshments usually being provided between the two.

It begins with the Garden of Eden and ends with the Resurrection.

Since those first two lines he has been involved, as Actor, Writer or Director  in over 200 productions, most of them, since 1966, in the Bristol Area. He has been heavily involved in Youth Drama, and over 400 young people have passed through his hands over the years and.he has written 18 One Act, 6 Full Length plays and 10 Pantomimes. In 1966 he encountered the Leader of a Pop Group attached to Liverpool Cathedral, about to make their first record and as a result was asked by the 20th Century Church Music Group to write the lyrics to a song about the Resurrection. Since then he has written over 250 Gospel songs several of which feature in the show.

Nothing! It is absolutely free of charge - although a contribution towards travelling expenses would be appreciated and, if an overnight stay is necessary, some accommodation would be a help.
