LYRIC OF THE MONTH.
FREE OFFER TO SITE VISITORS

MONTHLY LYRIC

Each month, for the last four years, the magazine of the URC Church which I attend (the Redland Park Recorder) has published the lyric to one of my songs. These have been so appreciated by the congregation that I have decided to publish one on this site at the start of every month.

It may be copied and re-printed by visitors to this site in their own Church magazine or other similar means of communication, FREE OF CHARGE, on only 2 conditions.

(i)   the Copyright Statement at the end must be reprinted along with the words and

(ii) I would like an email telling where it  has been published, and an opinion of the words.

 JULY 2008 LYRIC

CONTRASTS

Two men, one day, knelt down to pray, each in his own way,

And as they knelt there side by side

The first man raised his voice to heaven and cried,

"I'm much better than the next man, however good he may be,

I fear it's clear,

He'll never be as good as me.

I don't steal and cheat like he does, a very good boy am I,

I know it's so,

A better man than him am I.

He drinks, he chases women, he cheat so he can win,

I thank the Lord that I am not the same as him.

I am on my best behaviour, do everything that I should.

Too bad! How sad!

He's nowehere near as good as me!"

Then the second man began to pray,

A short and simple prayer that went this way,

"Lord, be merciful to me, so wicked and full of sin.

I fear it's clear,

I'll never be as good as him!"
